Kylie by Ontex Healthcare
A kylie is a washable, absorbent bed pad that protects the mattress and keeps skin dry overnight. The name comes from the original Kylie brand, and Australians have used it for waterproof bed protection for over 40 years. This is the genuine Kylie range.
A kylie is a reusable, machine-washable bed pad (also called a kylie sheet, kylie bed protector or kylie mattress protector) that absorbs fluid and protects the bed during the night. Unlike a disposable bed pad, a kylie is washed and reused for years, so one kylie replaces boxes of disposables over its lifetime.
"Kylie" began as a brand name and became the everyday Australian word for washable bed protection, used in homes, hospitals and aged care. In Australia, Kylie™ is a brand of Ontex Healthcare, and the products on this page are the original Kylie range that healthcare professionals have recommended for decades.
A kylie sheet is the same product: "kylie", "kylie sheet", "kylie bed pad" and "kylie bed protector" are all Australian names for one thing, a washable absorbent bed pad. The Kylie Draw Sheet is different: it is the waterproof layer that sits under an absorbent pad, not an absorbent pad itself.
The absorbent bed, chair and utility pads share the same blue quilted stay-dry surface, while the draw sheets and covers are the waterproof layers that work beneath them. Every product is unisex and suits all levels of incontinence; capacities and sizes are listed on each card.

Match the kylie to where it will be used and how much protection is needed. Most people start with one Supreme Mac for the bed, then add a chair pad or utility pad for daytime.

The main difference between a washable kylie and a disposable bed pad is reuse: a kylie is laundered and used again for years, while a disposable pad is used once and thrown away. A kylie costs more upfront but far less over time, holds more fluid than most disposables, and feels like normal bedding rather than plastic. Disposable pads suit travel, short-term recovery and situations where laundry is not practical.
Many families use both: a kylie on the bed every night, and disposable bed pads for trips away. If you are choosing products for personal wear as well, see the product selector or try the full continence range.
To wash a kylie, rinse it thoroughly in cold water first, then machine wash on a hot cycle at 65°C for at least 10 minutes. Never use fabric softener, as its silicone coating blocks absorption. Spin out as much water as possible, then line dry or tumble dry below 80°C. Wash your kylie once before first use.
Domestic and commercial machines are both fine, and shrinkage is minimal by design. For bleach guidance, laundry additives and the full routine, read the Kylie care instructions.
Australian government schemes such as CAPS and state programs can subsidise continence products, including washable bed protection. Check what you are eligible for before you buy.
A kylie sheet is another name for a kylie: a washable, absorbent bed pad that protects the mattress and keeps skin dry overnight. The terms kylie, kylie sheet, kylie bed pad and kylie bed protector are used interchangeably in Australian homes, hospitals and aged care. If you need the waterproof layer that goes underneath an absorbent pad, that is a draw sheet; see the Kylie Draw Sheet.
A Kylie Supreme Mac holds over 2.5 litres of fluid, which gives approximately 8 or more hours of protection. It is the product healthcare professionals most often recommend for managing incontinence in bed.
Start with one, but three is the practical number: one on the bed, one in the wash and a spare ready to go. That rotation keeps the bed protected every night without waiting on laundry.
The quilted blue side always faces up, against the body. The blue surface wicks fluid down into the absorbent core and stays feeling dry, while the backing stops anything reaching the mattress. Position the kylie so it covers from shoulders to knees, and tuck the wings under the mattress to stop wrinkling.
No. The Supreme Mac is fully waterproof on its own, so you can use your normal bed sheets. Place a standard sheet over the mattress, lay the Supreme Mac on top with the blue side up, and no other waterproof product is needed.
No, it is not recommended. Exposing electrical products to liquid is a safety hazard. See the care instructions for details.
Yes. The range is designed to absorb fluid and keep skin dry and comfortable, and it is latex free and dermatologically tested. For maximum benefit the skin should be in direct contact with the blue quilted surface.
